Dublin show for The Sugarhill Gang

Hip-hop legends and pioneers The Sugarhill Gang will play a show in The Village, Dublin on Friday 20 February.

Big Bank Hank, Wonder Mike, and Master Gee were one of the first rap groups to record a single, releasing the Chic sampling 'Rapper's Delight' in 1979.

It became a worldwide hit, eventually selling more than eight million copies.

The Sugarhill Gang, who recorded for Sugar Hill Records, opened the record industry doors for hip-hop groups with songs like '8th Wonder', then 'Apache' and 'Showdown', featuring Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five.

Tickets for The Sugarhill Gang at The Village are ¤24 and are on sale now from Road Records, Soundcellar, Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide.
