Poll names Hendrix as top guitarist

Jimi Hendrix was the greatest guitarist of all time according to a survey compiled by Rolling Stone Magazine.

In the list of the 100 great guitarists Hendrix received a glowing tribute from Who guitarist Pete Townshend who wrote that he 'made the electric guitar beautiful.'

Duane Allman took second place, hailed by the magazine for transforming 'the poetry of jamming' with the Allman Brothers Band.
