Gabriel Egan is RTÉ Radio's senior soccer commentator. He covered Ireland's first-ever experience of a major final, at the 1988 European Championship, and Ireland's famous win over England in Stuttgart. Since then, he has been the commentator for all of Ireland's international matches right through the Jack Charlton, Mick McCarthy and Brian Kerr eras as Irish teams competed in World Cup Finals at Italia '90 and Japan and Korea 2002. In between, he worked at the Finals of '98 in France.
Gabriel joined Eoin Hand as 2fm commentators for the Irish matches during EURO 2012 and continues to commentate on soccer on both RTÉ TV and radio.
