About Dunne, Mick

Mick Dunne (1929-2002) was a journalist and broadcaster. Born in Laois, he joined the 'Irish Press' in 1947, initially working as a librarian. He later became their Gaelic games correspondent, a position he held for thirteen years before moving to RTÉ in 1970.

As RTÉ's first GAA correspondent, he was a presenter, reporter and commentator on football, hurling and handball. Dunne had a reputation for being a meticulous record-keeper of the games he covered.  After many All-Ireland finals, he was the first in the dressing room to interview the winners.
