About Bono

Paul Hewson aka Bono (1960-) is the lead singer with U2. Born in Dublin, he became the singer of the band while attending Mount Temple Comprehensive School. Albums with U2 include 'The Joshua Tree' (1987) and 'Achtung Baby' (1991).

Bono has also collaborated and recorded with numerous other artists, including Frank Sinatra and Johnny Cash. He sits on the board of Elevation Partners, and owns The Clarence Hotel in Dublin with fellow band-member The Edge.

Bono is well-known for his humanitarian work in Africa, including the initiatives DATA, EDUN, the ONE Campaign and Product Red. He has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, was granted an honorary UK knighthood (2007), and named a Person of the Year by 'Time Magazine' (2005).
