After ten days of counting in Dublin South Central a final result is announced. Ben Briscoe of Fianna Fáil beat Eric Byrne of Democratic Left to the last seat.
RTÉ News was there for the end of what had become known as the 'Ben and Eric Show'. John Ross the returning officer announces the result. Both Briscoe and Byrne are interviewed together and are cordial and upbeat.
