    RTÉ News reports on voting in the 1989 general and European elections from rural Ireland Aran islanders are obliged to vote in advance of the mainland. One local woman shouts her vote and it is noted by officials.

    At Knock airport, some men returning from working abroad to vote are asked about the election.

    In Oughterard, Tuam and in East Mayo voters were protesting over local issues.
