A RTÉ News report on the death of Seán Mac Réamoinn. In a career spanning 40 years, Seán Mac Réamoinn was a presenter, a commentator, an archivist, and an adovcate for the Irish language.
His broadcasting career began in 1947 when he joined Radio Eireann. He presented a number of programmes in both Irish and English.
As a reporter he provided many memorable radio despatches from the Vatican Council throughout the years Seán Mac Réamoinn was a noted writer and commentator on religious issues.
Working in RTÉ television in the early days, Seán Mac Réamoinn was an important figure in developing outside broadcasts. He was passionate about Irish folk music, and was one of a group committed to finding, restoring and maintaining Ireland's musical history.
Seán Mac Réamoinn served on the RTÉ Authority and was head of external affairs when he retired in 1986.
