Ciaran Mullooly reports on the closure of the last RTÉ medium wave transmitter at Tullamore. Tom Collins, who serviced the previous transmitter at Moydrum, Athlone, for over 40 years, recalls the origins of the medium wave radio service.
JP Coakley, Head of Operations at RTÉ Radio outlines the reasons for shutting down the medium wave service.
Kevin Kelly a manager at Click electronics store in Athlone says he has never been asked for a medium wave radio.
Brendan Balfe in studio closes the last RTÉ radio programme broadcast on medium wave.

A RTÉ News report on the shutting down of the final medium wave transmitter at Tullamore. This meant that RTÉ Radio would no longer be available on medium wave. At 3.00pm on the 24 March 2008 presenter Brendan Balfe became the last person to sign off on RTÉ medium wave.
