RTÉ launches a new internet news service, RTE News Online. The website will provide live coverage of Irish and world news events on a daily basis from 8am to 8pm Irish time, and will offer a hugely expanded news service to a global audience.

The report shows staff working at computers and the RTÉ News playing out over the internet. Luke McManus a producer from RTÉ Online explains how the new service will work. Eugene Murray, Director of Business Planning, at RTÉ explains how news reports can now be consumed by someone in New York through the RTÉ website.

  • Information

The RTÉ web site broadened its service by launching RTÉ News Online, providing coverage of RTÉ's radio and television news from at home and abroad. For the first time, it became possible to watch or listen to RTÉ News coverage over the internet from anywhere in the world.
