A new weather data system at is installed at RTÉ studios. This means that RTÉ will now have more weather broadcasts and that they will be presented in a very different way.
Bill Giles senior weather presenter at the BBC has been in Dublin to help train Irish staff. He explains what is important about broadcasting information about the weather.
Gerald Fleming of the Irish Met Office (Met Eireann) explains that while the Met Service has got better in the last ten years at giving more accurate information about the weather it has not been possible until now to give this information to television viewers. Electronic graphics and a meteorological office in the television studios will improve the service.
A brief interview with Paddy McHugh Head of the Central Forecast Office who explains that differenet bulletins will make it possible to tailor information about the weather.
The report shows staff working at computers and Gerald Fleming in the studio where forecasts will be broadcast from.
