- Extended description
An extract from the television series 'Telefís Feirme' which means 'Farm Television'. This clip opens with the RTÉ presenter Justin Keating telling people who are gathering to watch the programme in groups to arrive early and to get the booklets relating to each programme. Group leaders can also get booklets with information and answers to questions which may arise during each programme.
Justin Keating also explains how to tune in the television set. He then goes on to discuss the different housing requirements for housing farm animals based on the Irish weather.
This series attempted to educate farmers on modern farming methods. At a time when not every home had a television set, the Department of Agriculture subsidised the rental of sets so that members of agricultural organisations could come together to watch and discuss the programmes.
