'Living with Lynch' began on 3 October 1954, featuring Joe Lynch, a well known actor with the Abbey Theatre and the Radio Éireann Players. This a first attempt for the station at the type of radio sketch comedy shows that were so popular on the BBC and could were available to Irish listeners.

The show was an early example of the 'packaged productions', where an independent production company would present an idea for a show to Radio Éireann and propose cast, budget and sample scripts.

A mixture of comedy and music, 'Living With Lynch' was recorded in front of an audience.Appearing along with Joe Lynch were Pamela Duncan, Charlie Byrne, Ronnie Walsh and music from the Jack Gregory Quintet.

In this extract from 'Living With Lynch' schoolboys Fursey and Ernie ponder the advantages of having measles.
