Jimmy Mahon describes the basic conditions of the early days of radio in Ireland. There could be an interval of up to five minutes between items being broadcast. If there was any broadcast out of the ordinary microphones had to be hired.
Jimmy Mahon also recalls how Hogan For Wireless a shop on Grafton street had speakers outside broadcasting 2RN.

The photograph accompanying this clip shows Jimmy Mahon at the desk in the control room of 2RN in Little Denmark Street, Dublin. He is using Marconi battery operated equipment with A+ B amplifiers.
