- Extended description
Poet and presenter Eavan Boland suggests to Heaney that he is in danger of artistic repetition in the bog poems. She says he is mythologising his material and in repeating the image he is escaping the very thing that he tried to face. A good-natured discussion ensues as he points out that there are only four of those poems.
‘The Arts’ was an RTÉ radio series about poetry, music and literature. The first programme was broadcast on 7 February 1973 and featured poet John Montague introduced by Liam Miller. Other presenters included the poet Eavan Boland, who won a Jacob’s award in 1976 for her work on the show.
