The impact of the smoking ban 3 years following its introduction.

Newsreader Eileen Whelan introduces a report by Edel McAllister on the smoking ban three years after it was introduced.

According to the report while the smoking ban has contributed to a fall in the number of smokers, the message is not getting through to young people.

According to the Office of Tobacco Control 32 thousand inspections of workplaces have taken place resulting in just 35 prosecutions.

Since the introduction of the ban in Ireland three years ago, eight more countries have followed the Irish example and by the end of the summer the UK and Northern Ireland will also have introduced the ban.
