The early designs of milliner Philip Treacy, who talks about his work and plans for the future.
Dave Fanning visits the fashion department of the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in Dublin where he talks to 3rd year student, Philip Treacy about his hat designs and his hopes for the future.
Fanning appears wearing a yellow bonnet which was made by Treacy and won first prize in the Kilkenny Design Centre Competition.
At the age of 20 Treacy describes his designs as "not for the faint hearted". Treacy says that he hopes to move in the direction of couture hat design where each creation is designed specifically for the customer.
Following completing his fashion degree at NCAD, Philip Treacy went on to complete an MA in Fashion Design at the Royal College of Art in London. Treacy has gone on to become an internationally renowned designer. His hats have been worn by members of the British royal family as well as Lady Gaga.
