    This RTÉ News report from 1977 features an interview with Eamon Gilmore, President of the Union of Students in Ireland, on inadequate student grants.

    Gilmore served as President of the Union of Students in Ireland from 1976 to 1978. He went on to become a trade union spokesman before establishing a career in politics. 

    Eamon Gilmore has been a member of the Workers Party, the Democratic Left and is currently leader of the Labour Party and holds the position as Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, as part of the Fine Gael/Labour coalition government.
