    John Skehan describes the scene as President Kennedy tries to get from Cork City Hall through the crowds to his car. It is one of the worst situations he has seen the president in.

    Eventually the president makes it to his car and walks around inside it, waving to people until he is knocked off his feet after the secret servicemen jump in.
