Maud Liddy describes the fashions on display at the garden party held in honour of President Kennedy at Áras an Uachtaráin. She says the standard of dressing is really terrific despite the dull weather, with women wearing crisp silk two-pieces, elegant sheath dresses and magnificent hats.

The general colour picture is blue against a green background of trees and lawn. She says that Mrs Seán Lemass is very pretty in a royal blue and green chiffon frock and coat. Her daughter Mrs Charles Haughey is wearing a brown and white silk dress with brown accessories.
