President Kennedy attends a garden party in the rain at Áras an Uachtaráin.

President Kennedy returned to Dublin from Wexford to attend a garden party at Áras an Uachtaráin, home of the Irish president Éamon de Valera.

P. P. O'Reilly commentates on the live coverage of the event.  The president comes out of the Áras into the crowd, who are waiting in the rain to meet him, many of them with their umbrellas up. Now that he is outside, more people leave the tents that have been erected throughout the garden and press forward to see him. One man even stands in a floral urn to get a good view with his camera.

The over-enthusiastic guests, many holding umbrellas, make it very difficult for the television cameras to see the president.

The No. 1 Army Band, the Cork 4th Battalion pipe band, play throughout the clip.
