    The original Planxty line up of Donal Lunny on bouzouki, Andy Irvine on mandolin, Liam Og O'Flynn on uilleann pipes and Christy Moore on guitar play the reels 'Kitty Gone A Milking' and 'Music of the Forge' filmed at a concert in the National Stadium.

    'The Music Makers' was a light entertainment series featuring performers from the Irish music scene. Live performances of Donovan, Horslips, Louis Stewart and Rory Gallagher were all filmed for the series. Some programmes from the series were broadcast as an experimental colour transmission.

    The extract shown here is from the final programme in the series broadcast on 18 June 1973. Filmed in the summer of 1972 Planxty play to a capacity crowd at the National Stadium. The programme was restored by RTÉ Archives in 2009.
