Commentator Paddy Mehigan wrote as "Pat O" for 'The Irish Times' and as "Carbery" for 'The Cork Examiner'.
Here Éamonn de Barra, another of Irish radio's distinguished commentators, remembers Mehigan and the impact his commentaries had on the listening public.

'This Game Is Not Over Yet' was a programme looking back at 50 years of radio sports broadcasting in Ireland.
"A look back over 50 years of sport on radio with voices and sounds which captured the thrills and excitement of great sporting events."
(RTÉ Guide, Vol.13, No.7, Feb 14-20, 1976, p.13)The programme deals with half a century of sports coverage since the summer of 1926 when 2RN was one of the first radio stations to cover an outdoor sporting event. The event was the All-Ireland Hurling Semi-final between Galway and Kilkenny and commentator was Paddy Mehigan.
'This Game Is Not Over Yet' is a compilation of facts and recollections presided over by Philip Greene. Commentators are the heart of the mattaer and include Paddy Mehigan, Eamon de Barra, Micheal O'Hehir and Seán O'Ceallacháin.
The accompanying image shows Philip Greene of RTÉ Sport in April 1974. Greene was a soccer commentator for RTÉ Radio and was also Head of RTÉ Radio Sport.
