Niall notes that a sports journalist cannot participate in sport as most games take place during work hours. Gerry Reynolds talks about the importance of developing an expertise in a specific area.
The panel discuss sexism in the profession and the relative merits of freelance journalism versus paid employment. Press photographer Roseanne was the first female staff photographer on a national newspaper. Eric used to be a freelance journalist and is now a staff reporter.
