A graph showing the number of wireless licences issued from January 1926 to August 1927.

This graph shows the number of wireless licences issued month by month from January 1926 to August 1927. It includes all classes of licence.

Notes on the graph indicate that licences were first issued in February 1924. 2,900 licences had been issued by 31 December 1925. The Dublin-based radio station 2RN began broadcasting on 1 January 1926 and the Wireless Telegraphy Act of 1926 made it necessary for anyone with a wireless to have a licence. The graph shows that by the end of August 1927, 24,000 had been issued, with a steep rise in the first quarter of 1927.
