Election agent for Charles J. Haughey, Patrick O'Connor, reads a statement outlining Haughey's accident on budget day.

O'Connor describes how Haughey was unconscious for a period following the fall and was taken to the Mater Hospital. Mr. Haughey was suffering from a fractured skull with torn right ear drum, a broken collarbone, and a fracture on one of the bones in his back. While Haughey is making a recovery, he is still suffering from post-concussion, headache and vertigo.
