  • Extended description

Bernadette Devlin talks to Tom McCaughren on the streets of Derry about the RUC, the British army and the Prime Minister Chichester-Clark.

Devlin comments on her attitudes to the possibility of joint army-police patrols. She and her followers never want to see the face of a policeman in the Bogside or from the barricades of the Bogside ever again.

Devlin says that the army have been sent in because the police couldn't do their job and she believes that the army can do a better job without the assistance of the police.

In relation to Chichester-Clark, Devlin argues that he is not interested in the establishment of peace.
