Workers from the Maydown Industrial Estate, Derry, have their march to the city blocked at Ferryquay Gate by a police truck. They respond with a sit down protest.
Dockers and other workers also take to the streets, where they sit in protest. John Hume addresses protesters from the back of a beer lorry.
Protestors sing "We Shall Overcome" in the face of the police blockade. A crowd of over 2,000 marches down Shipquay Street to a meeting on the quay.
