Jack King recalls how himself and a friend went off with two local girls. The two soldiers were set upon by a gang and Jack had a ring his mother gave him, money and books stolen.
To add to their ignominy Jack and his friend were then bundled into a net by mounted soldiers from their own battalion because they ahd gone out of bounds.

'Looking West' was a series presented by Jim Fahy looking at people, places and events in the west of Ireland.
