Champions Offaly overcome Down to reach the All Ireland Final.

Offaly and Down faced each other in the first of the All Ireland Hurling semi finals at Croke Park in August 1995. The reigning title holders Offaly were too good for the Ulster team. With less than six minutes gone a Michael Duignan goal gave Offaly a five point lead. Noel Sands scored a goal to give Down a glimmer of hope and meant that they trailed by six points at half time.

Both teams scored goals in the second half but Offaly maintained their dominance to win the game 2-19 to 2-08.

For the first time a big video screen was used in Croke Park which offered spectators pictures from the live RTÉ coverage of the game.
