Gardai say they are not yet aware of the motive for the death of a man found beaten in Fairview Park.

Declan Flynn was a 31 year old gay man who was attacked by a group of youths in Fairview Park Dublin. His badly beaten body was found at 1.30 a.m. near the band stand suffering from serious head injuries he died before he reached hospital.   

Gardai are now examining their files on other attacks in this area. They say they don't know yet what the motive for today's attack was but they are following several lines of inquiry.  

Gardai organised a search of Fairview Park looking for weapons or other evidence. They are investigating the possibility that the victim was set upon be a gang of youths he had no money when found and it is possible that he had been robbed.
