A new television series hopes to help solve crime with the help of viewers.

The new series 'Crimeline' will be produced by Midas Productions for RTÉ in conjunction with the Gardai and will use dramatic reconstructions of unsolved crimes. Garda officers in studio will point out the key areas of the investigation where they are seeking the help of the public.

'Crimeline' will be broadcast once a month and presented by David Harvey and Marian Finucane who outlined the thinking behind the programme and how viewers will be able to help investigations.

Garda Commissioner Patrick Culligan says he is excited about the concept,

We have got tremendous support always from the public and I have no doubt that they will cooperate with us in this programme as well.
