Fifty years later a Cork man is back on television recalling a childhood appearance on the RTÉ programme 'The School Around the Corner'.

RTÉ is trying to trace five national school children who feature in a long lost recording of the popular television programme 'The School Around the Corner'.

A 35mm print of the original episode of 'The School Around the Corner' was discovered at Ulster Television a search was launched to find the five children who appeared on the show half a century ago. 

Following an appeal on radio, one of the children has already been found. Stephen Butt was tracked down following an appeal on the John Murray Show on RTÉ Radio One. Stephen still remembers the poem he recited for the programme.

The episode of 'The School Around The Corner' was recorded in Cork in 1962. According to Liam Wylie, RTÉ Archives Curator, the programme was the most popular programme on television at that time.
