A look at ROSC 71, an international exhibition of modern art.
ROSC 71 was an exhibition of various art forms held in Dublin and other centres in Ireland in 1971.
The main exhibition was held in the premises of the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) and featured contemporary works of art from around the world selected by an international jury. Also included in the exhibition were Viking art and ornaments.
The centrepiece of the of the main show is a steel sculpture by Alexander Calder from Philadelphia. Among the fifty artists represented are Pierre Clerk and Al Held from the US. This excerpt from the programme includes works from Jirí Kolár from Czechoslovakia and Lucas Samaras from Greece. ROSC 71 ran from 24 October to 29 December 1971.
