What does the future hold for the border between the north and south of Ireland?

'World This Week' reports from the border between northern and southern Ireland and contemplates what will happen in the event of a Common Market. How long will the border last?

As a new customs post is under construction reporter John O'Donoghue points out that the old stumbling blocks to the removal of the border continue for both sides of the political and sectarian divide.

According to the Ulster Unionists.

The south won't recognise two traditions in Ireland... There's no room for us in a Gaelic Ireland.

Nationalists say that there is the continued discrimination in housing and employment in Northern Ireland.

This episode of 'World This Week' was broadcast on 1 April 1962. The reporter is John O'Donoghue.
