A look back at the Tall Ships Parade of Sail which took place in Cork Harbour in July 1991.

This excerpt from the programme shows the arrival of the tall ships as they sailed up the River Lee.

Nearly a hundred tall ships, the vessels of a bygone age bringing international friendship.

3,000 sailors from all over the world arrived in the maritime city by the Lee for the event.

Lord Mayor of Cork Denis Cregan was there to welcome the sailors and their ships but of his own experience of boats he says,

Unfortunately I get sick looking at them.

'The Cutty Sark Talls Ships Cork '91' was broadcast on 3 January 1992.
