'Zeehond', a Dutch submarine docks in Dublin port. As a member of NATO Holland boasts five submarines of which the 'Zeehond' built in 1960 is the oldest.

Colm Murray met Lieutenant Commander Van Der Sluis who describes life on board the submarine. The crew of seventy one is relatively young with a maximum age of 35, who work 14 to 16 hours a day. After the age of 35 the crew members move on to service ships. At just 18 metres long, there is not much space on board for the crew who live in a very confined environment.

Lt Cmdr Van Der Sluis says the 'Zeehond' is more or less equipped for war with torpedoes on board.
