Reporter Michael Ryan takes in the carnival atmosphere in Cork City.
Cork today packed up all its cares and woes, thumbed its nose at its troubles and took on a carnival air in a morale boosting fun weekend.
The city enjoyed about 100 free shows including music, clowns, dancing, puppets, jugglers, mime artists, and face painting. RTÉ's Cork Local Radio hosted a special Carnival Corkabout from a mobile studio in the city. The event was funded by the Cork City Enterprise Board and Cork Corporation costing £42,000.
