A new initiative by a Dublin school sees students spend time working in the slums outside Mexico city.
RTÉ News reports as ten Irish teenagers arrive home in Dublin after a month of working in the slums of Mexico.
These are the slums of Mexico. Some of the worst urban poverty in the world.
The trip was the culmination of a pioneering social awareness programme run by their county Dublin school, Rosemount Park in Blackrock.
This report includes video footage shot by Dublin teacher Therese Murphy who travelled to Mexico with the teenagers. Therese describes the poor conditions that people are living in. Teenagers Clare Murray and Lia Saurin plan to return next year.
Reporter Peter Cluskey also speaks to Mary O'Donoghue who describes the project as one of service.
