A new permanent exhibition 'Art of the Book' has opened at the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin. It contains over 500 items from the European, Asian and Islamic traditions, some of which have never been displayed in public before.

From love stories to children's libraries the art of the book is being celebrated.

Charles Horton Head of Collections at the Chester Beatty Library talks to Sineád Crowley about the exhibition. Books on display come from European, Asian and Islamic traditions and include the world famous Chester Beatty Love Poems (c.1160 BC), Egyptian Books of the Dead and beautifully illuminated European manuscripts.

An RTÉ News report by Sineád Crowley broadcast on 3 July 2011.
