Clare man seeks to swim the Channel from England to France.

Psychiatric nurse Pat Conway, aged 26 from Ennistymon, County Clare is training to swim the English Channel from Dover to Calais.

Fifteen local businessmen have sponsored the Clare man and he is on leave of absence from the Mid Western Health Board to prepare fully for the long distance swim. He plans to set out on the 21 mile swim between August 8-11 and will be supervised by an official from the Channel Swimming Association.

Whilst training in Liscannor Bay Pat Conway stops to share with the RTÉ cameras his leisurely Atlantic training regime and diet.

At least I'll give it my best ... whether I fail or get there is unimportant really, as long as I give it my best.
