Cork suffer their first hurling championship home defeat in 63 years at the hands of Limerick.
Not many would have backed a 16 point defeat for Cork at half time when the home side led by 1-05 to 0-07. An Alan Browne goal had brought Cork back into the game. Limerick started the second half at a fast pace. Four unanswered points left Cork floundering before goals from Padraig Tobin and Owen O'Neill would complete the rout. In the end Cork and their support were overwhelmed whiled Limerick could look forward ot a clash with Clare. The final score was Limerick 3-18 Cork 1-08
