Tyrone prove too good for Derry and stay on track to retain Ulster crown.

A packed Clones watched Tyrone beat Derry to reach the final of the Ulster Senior Football Championship. Tyrone dominated their opponents and in Peter Canavan had a forward of real class. A Derry goal from Dermot Heaney gave his side some after 10 minutes. After Peter Canavan and Joe Brolly traded points it was Tyrone who finished the first half the stronger to lead 0-8 to 1-3 at half time.

A second half Peter Canavan goal gave Tyrone 1-12 to 1-04 lead they never looked likely to lose. A second booking for Peter Canavan meant the star forward sat out the closing minutes of a game knowing an Ulster final and the chance to retain the Anglo-Celt Cup.

The final score was Tyrone 1-13 Derry 1-08.
