Before marriage equality became a reality in Ireland, gay marriage was the subject of discussion on The Late Late Show.

Introducing the topic presenter Pat Kenny poses the question.

Suppose the happy couple is two men or two women. How would you feel then?

Katherine Zappone and Ann Louise Gilligan are guests on the show and share their story of love and marriage.

Katherine and Ann Louise married legally in Canada, but the Irish state does not recognise this marriage. They are now attempting to have their marriage in Canada officially recognised in Ireland or alternatively to be allowed to marry in Ireland.

In this clip from the show the two women tell Pat Kenny how they met, fell in love and got married.

This episode of The Late Late Show was broadcast on 10 March 2006.
