Shoppers flock to Dublin city centre for the first day of the Christmas sales.
This RTÉ News report by Colm Connolly shows shoppers entering Brown Thomas on Grafton Street. At the time Brown Thomas was situated opposite Switzers, which is now the home of Brown Thomas. Shoppers and shop assistants talk about the bargains on offer and the savings to be made.
The offers varied from a reduction of £200 on a fur jacket to a 55 pence drop on the price of a face cloth.
