Thousands march in Dublin in support of H Block hunger strikers.

Relatives of the H-Block hunger strikers lead a march through Dublin from Saint Stephen's Green to Ballsbridge in support of their cause. The rally chairperson, Bernadette McAliskey, claimed that up to 60,000 were in attendance, while official Garda figures stand at around 12,000.

Protesters rallied in support of convicted prisoners on hunger strike in the Maze Prison and Armagh Jail. The rally was originally planned to take place at the British Embassy on Merrion Road, but Gardaí staged a blockade of the road.

This RTÉ News report shows the Union Jack being burnt on the roof of the RDS in Ballsbridge. A stuffed effigy of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was also set alight.
