To mark the beginning of Travellers Focus Week, an exhibition of photographs of Travellers entitled 'A Travellers Ireland' opened at the Filmbase centre in Dublin on 4 December 2005.

There is often a difficult relationship between travellers and the settled community. This exhibition hopes to convey the reality of traveller lives. As Ronnie Fay, Director of Pavee Point explains:

Often the only time settled people come across travellers is in a very negative context, reporting anti-social behaviour or criminal behaviour and the ordinary everyday lives of travellers are often hidden and not very visible.

The photographers featured in the exhibition are from Ireland, Europe and the US. Some photographs are taken by travellers themselves.
