Cork athlete becomes first Irish woman to win an Olympic track and field medal.

Sonia O'Sullivan's home town Cobh was holding its breath as she took to the track in Sydney, Australia in her Olympic bid. They had been there for all the previous highs and lows of her career. Locals gathered around television sets at home and work to see could she do it. In O'Sullivan's old school, there were great scenes of excitement as she came second behind the Romanian runner Gabriela Szabo in a thrilling finish to take the silver medal in the 5000 metre race.

Reporter Jennie O'Sullivan gets some of the reaction to the athlete's historic win.
