GAA legend to be trainer, with Séamus Mac Gearailt as coach.

Football legend Páidí Ó Sé was appointed trainer of the Kerry football team for a period of two years on 21 September 1995. The Ventry publican had been patiently waiting in the wings, having been overlooked on the last two occasions. As a footballer, he held eight All-Ireland senior medals and five All-Star awards. Barraí Mescall visits him in his pub in this RTÉ News report.

I have worked diligently with West Kerry over a period of years. People like me, people dislike me, but they'll have to put up with that.

Ó Sé was anxious to gather the strongest panel possible to add to Kerry's tally of 30 senior titles.

I will be trying to build up the ego of each player. I will make an open door.
