On an official visit to Ireland Prince Charles took in a 5,000 year old Newgrange burial chamber and some almond tartlets.

Prince Charles travelled to the Boyne Valley and the Newgrange megalithic tomb where he was welcomed by Taoiseach John Bruton and his wife.

Security was heavy with a presence of 1000 Gardai and soldiers providing a cordon in the area. As Prince Charles entered the burial chamber he was warned to lower his head. Impressed by what he had seen the Prince signed up to the waiting list to be inside the chamber for the winter solstice

The Royal party then travelled by helicopter travelled to Butterstream Gardens near Trim where refreshments were provided.
